Take two ambitious musicians, mix in a chunk of bitterness, add the end of the punk era and you have the recipe of how it all started....



Step back to 1978 and crawling from the burning wreckage of the New Hearts, singer Ian Page and guitarist Dave Cairns set about rebuilding their musical world. The New Hearts had chucked in college and signed to CBS when they were just 16 years old, but despite a tour supporting the Jam and two singles ('Just Another Teenage Anthem' in 1977 and 'Plain Jane' the following year), CBS pulled the plug on the band still three years shy of their five-year deal.



Left with a bitter resentment of an industry they held responsible for the destruction of their first band, the young songwriters channeled this hate and cynicism into something more creative. Secret Affair made their first public appearance supporting The Jam at Reading University in January 1979. By August of that year, they were on the cover of every music magazine in the country and riding high in the charts with debut single 'Time For Action' (selling over 200,000 copies), while the critically acclaimed 'Glory Boys' became one of the defining albums of the year. In a period of a little over two years, Secret Affair posted five releases in the UK Singles Chart and released three albums, putting the band at the forefront of the mod revival movement before their split in 1982.



Secret Affair reformed for select shows between 2002 and 2006, before Ian Page and David Cairns reformed the band as a touring outfit in 2009. In 2012, the band released their fourth album, 'Soho Dreams' - their first new album in 30 years and in November 2014, Sony/BMG/Captain Mod Records released 'Est 1979' The Secret Affair 35th Anniversary Box Set featuring all four albums from 1979 to the present day.Fleece website:
