About this Event

TWO STEP & Embeepee presents...

YAK - live

INHEAVEN - live

TARA - live

Just over a year since their first single “Hungry Heart” was released – a period that saw their unpredictable gigs and electrifying clutch of studio recordings earn them a reputation as the most exciting and talked about new act in the UK – Yak have channelled their ferocious live experience into their debut album ‘Alas Salvation’. Recorded with Pulp’s Steve Mackey, it’s a wired and ambitious record that refuses to be pigeonholed. Yet beneath all the head-spinning chaos lies a beating heart of great melodicism and a hyperactively eclectic and inventive approach to making music.

Frontman Oli Burslem explains: “I was trying to make it a slightly schizophrenic record that had all these different elements, but had so much of everything that by the end it would all just be lost and everybody would be like, ‘What the hell was that? I don’t know what that was, but I kind of enjoyed it’”.

Yak have released a video for the album’s thrillingly relentless opening track “Victorious (National Anthem)”.

INHEAVEN

The best thing out of South London for years. The noise-pop quartet released their debut single 'Regeneration' on The Strokes frontman Julian Casablanca's record label 'Cult Records'. Echoing bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen in their wall of sound guitars and in the swagger of their reverb laden vocals but very much producing music for 2016.

TARA

Tara have been hibernating over the winter, locked up in a studio, planning the next assault on the world with their no bullshit Rock and Roll. We're more than happy here at Two Step to host the return of one of the most unpredictable and exciting acts this town has ever seen. Expect fireworks.
