GEORGE THE POET: An Audience with
About this Event
April sees Reading 2016 Year of Culture celebrate new writing – so who better for that month’s ‘An Audience With’ than George the Poet, one of the UK’s most acclaimed young writers.
Aged just 25, George the Poet has taken his unique brand of spoken word performance and poetry to full houses everywhere from Cheltenham Literature Festival and the Royal Albert Hall to Reading Festival and tours with Nas and Maverick Sabre. My City, about his hometown of London, received global attention during the 2012 Olympics and he was named the face of Radio 1’s Big Weekend the same year. Last year, in addition to publishing his first book Search Party he was nominated at the BRIT Awards and named one of the top 5 Sounds of 2015 by the BBC.
This very special ‘An Audience With’ will see George the Poet perform, speak abiout his career and take questions from the audience, as Reading 2016 Year of Culture comes to RYND for the first time after previous sell-out events at the Town Hall and Waterstones.
