"THIS IS THE NIGHT THAT FATE BESTOWED ON ME
So I was checking with Tim at MILK, to see if he had any of the first 3 fridays free in May to relocate for the month some of the evenings from the Fox and Hounds (which is closed for the month due to refurbishment)
He came back to me to tell me he was fully booked, but he did have the 27 th.
Well that just happens to be my birthday, which I was going to keep quiet about or at least refer to the following night when I am there with the Trip. Lately so many coincidences seem to be popping up that I put this one down to fate, and thought why not, let’s go for it.
The way to proceed seemed to be to invite some of my trusted dj friends to come along and share the night, but it did not feel right to just invite a few, so I thought I would go for the majority, thinking that if about 10 confirmed we could make a go of it. I therefore mailed over 40 and within hours over 30 has replied to say they were up for it. Obviously this decreases the time each can play, but many said they were happy to play just a few tunes, which made me feel very humbled.
The styles will be across the board and to no set pattern, which is what I like, so no “same old” here. The bar will be open as normal, so I do not know what those not in the know will make of it. Also several of those playing (as well as the bar itself), moved me into bar culture from the mobile in 2002, and it is them I must thank as I was about to pack it in. They know who they are and they are here tonight.
Please note the night runs from 7.00 to Midnight, and please come early as the bar has room for only a limited number of attendees……….
Quite how much longer I can keep going is up for debate, but it has been a fascinating journey from the early 60’s to date, and I still feel that the best is still yet to come.
Thanks again and keep on keeping on……Jim”
