WBF: Dizraeli / Selby & The Dharma Blitz / The Bonsai Pirates

13/10/2016

About this Event

As part of Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival, We Broke Free AND Songs From the Sea have merged forces to bring a very special show together at 60 Million Postcards.

A night focusing on conscience hip hop, poetry, and acoustic spoken word.

Dizraeli

Bristol boy Dizerali has been at the height of the spoken word scene for a few years, in his own words he's just " walking around noticing things." A festival staple, his words flow into stories and rhythms about human beings, trees and buildings.

Selby And The Dharma Blitz

A rare, acoustic show from the legendary local band.

Selby and the Dharma Blitz is an eight piece alternative, hip hop, funk project that merges arresting lyricism with a unique musical direction. A sound that hosts an array of styles and flavors delivering with conviction a wealth of hefty beats, uplifting brass and vocal sweetness. The Dharma Blitz provides a fusion of folkloric storytelling with infectious groove, inviting the listener to tune in, drop out, and get lost in their blissful bombardment.

Bonsai Pirates

A bunch of salty sea dogs who love nothing more than making port and playing music for the gathering land lovers! Acoustic, indie folk vibes.

This show will also be filmed to be used for Songs From the Sea- check out their other videos now!

Tickets are £6 in advance, from See Tickets. More on the door.

Myriam San Marco

Myriam has delivered creative writing workshops for Lit up, Creative Kidz, Jericho Arts and grassroots writers groups for many years. Shaun Gary Palmer

haun Gary Palmer is best known for his music, but (as is generally the case) even without a guitar in his hands he just won't shut up. So, somewhere in between the stage and the bar he's found himself speaking words which people keep asking to hear.

Shaun Gary Palmer has a stage presence that demands attention but remains decidedly understated. He turns stories into poems, poems into songs and then back again for kicks. Shaun has an easy on the ear delivery and a composure that feels like rowing past a waterfall and pacing about for a splash of break dance warm ups - he leaves the audience hanging on his every word with tales of love, loss and all those misspent days. He is often intoxicated, occasionally a poet, but always a libertine.

Shaun is a poet in residence for Verbal Remedies, has performed as a guest in many cities around the UK and festivals galore. He is the current Purbeck Folk Festival Slam Champion and was the runner up at Boomtown Festival last year.

Erica Rose Lilli

Erica is relatively new to the performance scene, she has however impressed at both Platform and Verbal Remedies poetry nights. She has an emotive style of performance that draws audiences in and takes them on a journey with her.

She has a great range of poems from angry through to quirky. Erica has a great way with rhythm and rhyme and will be perfectly suited to this wonderful evening.
