WBF: Blood Sport & The Rhythm Method
About this Event
We Broke Free are very proud to present a FREE SHOW, featuring 2 very exciting up and coming new bands.
Blood Sport
Blood Sport formed in Sheffield in 2010, and ever since the trio have forged an arresting sound practice from within the city’s industrious art/music community. Their blistering guitar dynamics and pointed-yet-pointillist lyrics meshing into rough-house, techno-gilded polyrhythms, with an untrammelled urgency pervading their tightly wound sound and all that surrounds and informs it.

THE RHYTHM METHOD
The Rhythm Method works. After the glitterball manifesto of their first single 'Party Politics' (now shortlisted for the Pop Justice £20 Music Prize), The Rhythm Method follow with 'Home Sweet Home', a half-light lament to London, as its soul is slowly stripped, changed and sold off in front of their eyes.
The single will be accompanied by a ‘Home Sweet Home’ story series on the theme of hometowns from friends and contemporaries, with contributions coming from George Ezra, Michaela Coel, Slaves, Phil Taggart, Bill Ryder-Jones and others.
Echoing timeless songwriting partnerships such as Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Karen and Richard Carpenter, Jim Steinman and Meatloaf– The Rhythm Method (vocalist/lyricist Joey Bradbury and songwriter/piano man Rowan Martin) marry sharp observation with sharper hooks and idiosyncratic production for off-kilter, modern day pop gems.
Already counting declared fans such as Elton John and Matty from The 1975, making their first festival appearances at Field Day and Latitude and supporting Slaves on tour, as well as having their music featured by Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1, John Kennedy on Radio X and The Only Way Is Essex and EastEnders, ‘Home Sweet Home’ is an open invitation to start practicing The Rhythm Method.
