Tru Thoughts Take Over with J - Felix, Wrongtom & Anchorsong

16/12/2016

About this Event

Tru Thoughts is an Independent Record Label. It was formed in Brighton in 1999 by Robert Luis of Deeds Plus Thoughts and Paul Jonas. It became, in one decade, one of the most famous and well respected labels in independent music world.

Thru Thoughts has sent three of their finest artists as part of their launch take over at Hy Brasil Music Club. This is not to be missed.

Anchorsong

Anchorsong has become globally recognised for his unique live shows, which many people have described as "like watching a painter drawing on a white canvas", as he creates electronic music completely live using a sampler (MPC2500) and a keyboard, right in front of the audience. While he mainly performs solo, he frequently augments this setup with a string quartet, for a truly spellbinding show.

J-Felix

Originally from Bristol, UK, grew up on the DIY sounds of Trip Hop DnB, Hip-Hop and Reggae/DUB. Self- taught multi instrumentalist/ singer with an addiction to anything funky after listening to the likes of Prince, George Clinton and James Brown through digging for the source of original Hip-Hop samples. Music became a career after moving to Brighton and working as a musician as well as holding youth work shops and teaching production skills at Dv8 Training. Also love Jazz and play with Brighton Jazz/Hip-Hop collective, The E.M.E as well UK soul singer, Alice Russell. Available for sessions as a guitarist.

Wrongtom

Wrongtom is a record producer and dj from South London, now residing in the not-so-trendy reaches of the east end, he spends his days playing with tape echo and watching B-movies in his makeshift studio hidden away in a converted nunnery.

Spanning over a decade, Tom’s career has covered a colourful patchwork of styles from Dancehall to Indie-Pop with the likes of Rockabilly, Dub, Ghettotech and Free Jazz filling the gaps in between.
