About this Event

CUTE OWL Promotions presents:

A unique evening of mixed arts performances: post industrial with Shakespearean atmosphere, hurdy-gurdy and frank personal political lyrics, exploring cycles, intuitions, feelings; questioning the notion of femininity, sensuality beyond genders, through the prism of moon phases and the medium of songs and visual art, lush dark electronica with powerful ethereal vocals.

Tangerinecat

Multi-instrumentalists Zheka and Paul, using field recordings, samples, vocals, hurdy-gurdy & whistles, finely craft Elizabethan Industrial with personal protest lyrics.

Formed in Ukraine in 2008 tAngerinecAt have four albums to date and performed hundreds of shows all over UK and Eastern Europe.

"Watch out for: tAngerinecAt. This is some of the most powerful music I have heard in long time, and holds a message too... difficult to believe there were only two musicians on stage. They manage a real art; creating sound which people enjoy"

- LOUDER THAN WAR

"Tangerinecat started with a super-loud electronic bass loop. They did four or five songs, long droning pieces based on loops with flute, hurdy-gurdy and vocals on top. It worked. Zheka’s a fantastic singer, a ranter and belter with occasional glassware-shattering screams. As abrasive noise went, I liked them a whole lot."

- ROCKNERD

"Tangerinecat exploded into my world and I'm a happier man for it! Awesome energy and multidisciplinary. Myself and the team at New Art Exchange really appreciated your work."

- Jason Pollitt‎, NEW ART EXCHANGE

"Truly stunning performance. I really hope Instigate Arts and Tangerinecat get to work together again soon!"

- Anne Louise Kershaw, Co-Director/Owner at Instigate Arts, Former Arts & Music Editor at manchestersfinest.com

"You were absolutely brilliant, so captivating! Comment from one of our volunteers "I couldn't take my eyes off the stage". Thanks so much for coming and sharing your creativity with us."

- LADYFEST Manchester

"This is the only thing that I want to listen at this moment."

- FRESH ON THE NET

"With such disparate influences, it’s rather difficult to pin this down to a particular genre."

- FRESH ON THE NET (Fresh Faves), The Von Pip Musical Express

"They played a terrific set of electro hurdy gurdy rock, with tin whistles added to the mix.

Pretty unique,I must say-check 'em out ..."

- THE GIG SLUT

Tiger Lion

TIGER LION, from Angers in France is about to release her second EP.

"After an earthy and wavy debut EP I went through a darker phase in my life and it really affected my writing and research," Blue continues of the project. "I decided to look out for sounds I didn’t know and leave the planet. I see music and art like and endless path leading me to different places, enabling me to explore unknown landscapes. I have spent the last few months on a metaphysical journey to discover the mountains and seas of the moon, turning to a more ethereal and spectral world."

The Moon Inside Me mixes music, photography, painting, and dance, and "explores cycles, intuitions, feelings; questioning the notion of femininity, sensuality beyond genders, through the prism of moon phases."

The Glass Children

London's dark yet strangely upbeat electronic duo - The Glass Children featuring David Fairweather and Daniella Kleovoulou combine lush synth production with powerful ethereal vocals. Reminiscent of past but unmistakably now they transport you to a melancholic landscape.

"Their signature languid synths coat your imagination and creep into your veins." - The 405

"Perfectly synchronised harmonisation and wonderfully contrasting vocal tones blend colour into its spare electronic landscape..."- Fresh on the Net

"...a gripping, stark soundscape that is Massive Attack-esque in its delivery." - The Revue
