About this Event

Verbal Remedies returns to The Cellar Bar with their monthly show. Bringing you Spoken Word Poetry, Lyricism, Beatboxing and Story telling, they travel the land seeking out their favourite acts and bring them directly to your doorstep. This month is no different, in fact, we've convinced some of our all time favourite artists to join us, and you can see it all for absolutely nothing other than your time.



Joy France (VR Leeds)



What can we even say about Joy France? She is a dream come true for anybody she meets, and reminds us exactly why we do what it is we do. Again, we met her in Leeds and she just popped up on the open mic, before inadvertanely becoming one of only three people that have ever left a tear in the eye of our host. Full of Northern witt, genuine charm, and experience that we can relate to, she graces the stage to express her views and opinions on the things that hit home hard in life, including Donald Trump, and Bic biro's...obviously. We've been fortunate enough to work with her at a few events, including last years Isle of Wight festival, and she'll be joining us at Landed in Wales this August. If you haven't seen or heard Joy before, we promise you, a treat would not compare to how good you'll feel upon witnessing her live in the act.



Nul Militia (VR Bournemouth)



We first met Nul Militia sat on some steps at our Leeds event, and had no idea what kind of relationship we'd have with him over

the proceeding years. He popped up on the open mic wearing nothing but an Adidas jumper and a confused look in his eye, but when he got onto the mic he was in his element and rocked the whole room with his beatboxing. Since then, he's migrated down South gone from strength to strength with his music, picking up Kaos pads and loop pedals and entertained crowds of unsuspecting people in a variety of environments, including several Verbal Remedies stages. Mashing up melodies ranging from Hip-Hop through to Drum 'n' Bass, Ska through to Jazz, he'll bend his mouth in ways that'll leave yours dropped and your ears pleased.



Super Secret Special Guest (VR Super Secret HQ)



We'd like to tell you more about this artist, but all we can really tell you is that their name isn't Super Secret Special Guest. You'll have to come down on the night to find out exactly who they are ;)



Hosted as ever, by Lagan "Legski" Purdy, you'll find him flapping around trying to encourage people to sign up on the open mic and ensuring the show runs as smoothly as things can.
