Dropout Disco - Day & Night

30/09/2017

About this Event

After another string of sell out shows across Bristol over the past year, which included guests such as Andres, Denis Sulta, Chaos in the CBD, Kornel Kovacs and Space Dimension Controller, we wrapped things up with Andy Hart and Paramida throwing it down on the Motion terrace for Just Jack in June. Ever since, we’ve been longing for another daytime dance - that time has now arrived, but we’re going bigger… Our first day AND night party.

To usher in our third year of Bristol shows, it’s only fitting we return to our favourite haunt - the Old Crown Courts.

Day // We’ll be taking over and transforming the outside space of the venue, slinging giant disco balls left right and centre in honour of this being the final outdoor event the Courts will EVER be hosting; we’ll be pulling out all the stops to make it memorable. Featuring Nancy Noise.

Night // As the sun goes down we’ll slide indoors to pick up where we left off, heating things up in the disused Victorian court rooms and prison cells.

15 hours of tunes // Extended sets from the following, inimitable roundup of DeeJays:

TIM SWEENEY // Beats in Space, DFA Records // 4 Hour Marathon Set.

New York’s most influential contemporary DJ. When not travelling the world melting dancefloors with his diverse and eclectic record bag(s), his legendary Beats in Space radio show, which recently enjoyed its 18th birthday and 900th show, keeps him busy hosting more world class DJs than we’ve had hot dinners (Todd Terje, Ben UFO, DJ Harvey, Axel Bowman, Andrew Weatherall, Gerd Janson, Prins Thomas… the list goes on). A true selector, with the sort of extensive musical knowledge envied by many, and possessed by few. Oh, and he’s playing for four hours. Strap in for this cosmic journey.

NANCY NOISE // Boys Own, Beyond Paradise // 3 Hour Set.

A lady who revelled in Ibiza before Amnesia became the White Isle's biggest hidden piggy bank, Nancy has been pushing out glorious music from all over the world since the mid 80s, having fallen in love with the eclectic world sounds of balearic, acid and disco. She’s been there since the start… Affiliated with the legendary Boy’s Own gang (who, along with their genre defining magazine and label, also held the first documented outdoor acid rave in the UK - partying credentials like that are pretty few and far between). A key figure in both the Balearic and London party circuit since the 80s, she’s equally at ease working mahusive dance floors (Space / Amnesia) as she is on intimate Ibiza boat parties - it’s a treat to have her down.

FOLAMOUR // Moonrise Hill Material, Church, D.KO, Sleazy Beats // 3 Hour Set.

A day that goes past at Dropout HQ without hammering out several Folamour tunes is an incomplete one. Coming in hot from across the Channel the relative newcomer already has a production back catalogue envied by veterans. Label manager/founder of FHUO Records and Moonrise Hill Material, and with various releases on imprints including All City Records, Fauxpas Musik, Sleazy Beats Recordings and Church, Folamour is a busy busy man, and we’ve got a feeling he’s just getting going - trust us. His first LP release 'Umami' drops the day before, and we can't wait to hear his tracks through room 2's Funktion-One Soundsystem.

RED RACK'EM // Phonica, Domino, Sonar Kollectiv, Bergerac // 3 Hour Set.

Provided you have your ears screwed on properly, you’ll already know Red Rack'Em as the production whiz behind Juno’s biggest selling record of 2016 / Phonica’s record of the year for 2016 (check out the KINK remix below), as well his sublime ‘Self Portrait’ LP released earlier this year, but it doesn’t stop there. The man is also a formidable selector, whose touring schedule reads like a Lonely Planet with a firework up its ass.
