BillyFest - Fundraiser for Billy Clayton

About this Event

In 2015, at the age of 18 and after months of severe pain in his right thigh, Billy was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma of the right femur. Ewings Sarcoma is a rare and aggressive bone cancer that affects mainly young people.

Billy started an intense year of treatment in London which included intensive chemotherapy spanning 10 months, daily radiotherapy for 6 weeks and finally surgery which removed Billy's entire thigh bone.

At a time when Billy should have been starting out in life he found himself battling this aggressive disease. He was too ill to see friends and spent the best part of a year inside a hospital. He also had to learn to walk again after surgery.

Unfortunately, just several months after finishing all of this treatment and just as he was beginning to rebuild his life, he began to experience severe pain in his hip. Billy and his family were told on Christmas Eve 2016 that the cancer had come back in his hip and also in his left arm.

Billy had more aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for several months and even more surgery. This time, having his arm replaced with titanium as well as a hip replacement. The surgery will left Billy with further challenges in life and he needed to learn how to walk all over again whilst now also not having the use of his arm.

In September 2017 Billy received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his lungs.

Billy started chemotherapy for the third time in October after having his stems cells harvested in the hope that he can achieve remission and receive a stem cell transplant.

Billy's is currently being treated in London at a specialist sarcoma unit and his mum, Becky stays by his side throughout.

Billy's mum Becky is only able to work limited hours as a result of Billy's care needs and together with the additional costs associated with living away from home this adds to the challenges.

Billy is an amazing young man who has continued to bring positivity and love to all those around him despite the hardship of battling stage 4 cancer.

He is an extremely talented musician and despite everything he has endured over the last few years he continues to create music releasing his second EP 'BLOOM' https://soundcloud.com/billyclay/sets/bloom

Please help us to help Billy beat cancer and make life that little bit easier for him.
