About this Event

Growing up with a musical father and listening to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, Bill Withers and Erykah Badu, Emily and her brother were always encouraged to perform. However, it wasn't until Emily was 17 that she picked up a guitar and was able to start putting music to songs she had been writing. Since meeting at school, ‘the boys' (Wood, Brown and Bush) have been playing as a collective for as long as they could pick up their instruments, with each of them going on to study music.

Developing in a way that far removes the band from the previously labelled ‘singer-songwriter' tag, Emily and The Woods' newly honed sound blends luscious vocals with subtle electronic touches. Wood's pensive tone is at the heart of the music, backed by pounding drums, dark and driving bass-lines and shimmering guitars.
