The Magnet is back and we're throwing our doors open for a live music extravaganza from a feast of musicians and performers!



After being closed for over two years, The Magnet returns and our basement plays host to over 25 musicians and vocalists across two bands - in homage to the venue's origins as Liverpool's roots music Mecca. Our favorite drinking hole, second home and all round social hub of the city is closed no more, so you're cordially invited to join us for an aural spectacular of Magnet proportions!

The Fire Beneath the Sea



The Fire Beneath The Sea are a 13 piece band based in Liverpool. They have been tearing up the scene for the last year since their formation with a unique, dance floor destroying combination of high-octane, complex rhymes, incredible musicianship and an on-stage energy which never fails to whip the crowd into a frenzy.



With their 5 MCs, female vocalist, and full 7 piece band including 3 piece brass section and scratch DJ, they weave between genres (such as hip hop, funk, ska, jazz, DnB, swing, dub and anything else that takes their fancy) through their set and even throughout each track, with an emphasis on making people dance like lunatics. Having just finished their first festival season, and with their debut EP due for release very soon, 'The Phuxubtlety EP', now is the time to jump in the Sea with the Fire. We, the Undersigned



WtU (wuh-too) has come to your reality from another dimension of sound and colour. A 12-piece band of intrepid explorers from deep within the realms of STANKH music; their own bombastic fusion of influences including Funk, Afrobeat, Reggae and Jazz. The WTU experiment combines pernicious groove, infectious melody and provocative concepts of political and spiritual revolution. The result is something between rousing war dance, solemn prayer for peace, and life-affirming celebration of universal oneness.



With a sound characterised by euphonic three-piece vocals, conscious rap-poetry, relentless horns and a ferociously funky rhythm section, WTU has developed a significant loyal following of Cosmic Warriors. The band has also enjoyed many acclaimed support performances for such internationally renowned acts as The Apples, United Vibrations, Toots and the Maytals and the Skatalites; and has proved to be a massive hit with festival goers across the UK and in Europe.



Based in Liverpool UK but reaching out to the whole cosmos, WTU is THE band for those who like to dance with their minds as well as their behinds.

After that bevvy of rambunctious performers we also welcome back a familiar face in Dave Booth - who returns along to our place for a vinyl-only northern soul set to close off the evening. He's a purist and champion in every sense for this genre, with a record bag full of absolute gems from the 1960's era onwards. Do not miss it. This is a preview for a new regular night beginning on 1st June - Sink Club Unplugged!



We can't wait for this one. We're really looking forward to getting you all back in here for a drink and dance - but be sure to get a ticket in advance of the event, it's not a huge basement and we don't want to disappoint anyone by refusing entry once the basement locks out.
