About this Event

Beth McCarthy

She's been ont' telly, sung in front of the legend that is Sir Tom Jones, been mentored by the likes of Mr Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs, completed two tours of the UK, released a debut single and EP, played numerous festivals and recognized support slots (with bands such as ELO and Shed Seven..to name but a few..) and now, she's back in her cosy little hometown of York to celebrate her 17th birthday in the best way she knows how; at a gig. Taking her influences from various different genre's, Beth's style has been compared to that of Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran, only with a little more edge and a lot more Yorkshire. Her ability to tell a story through her songs combined with her cheeky on-stage presence makes Beth's live shows both engaging yet ‘comfortably informal'..or more to the point, a reet good laugh!

The Ratells

Averaging a show every 4 days, releasing 2 singles with a collective 50,000 views on YouTube and selling out their first ever headline tour in October, The Ratells had an incredible 2013.

The Sheffield, alternative 4-piece, hotly tipped by BBC Introducing's Christian Carlisle and mentioned on Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 1 show in the summer, have gained a reputation as one of the country's hardest working bands.

Successful support slots with the likes of The Kaiser Chiefs, The Boomtown Rats, ELO and a 16 date support tour with Room 94 has seen the band nurture a fantastic grassroots growth in cities hundreds of miles from home.

Their newest single, ‘Behind The Fire', was launched with a sell out show in London and sailed into the iTunes top 40 within hours of going on sale.

This, along with another relentless tour schedule and various festival slots already confirmed look set to make 2014 a very exciting year for The Ratells.

La Petite Mort

La Petite Mort are a york based psychedelic group formed in 2010. Since then they have relentlessly stripped their cauldron of repertoire and poured their potions all over the UK, smearing their sonic scent from London to Dundee and everywhere in-between.

Asio's Eyes

Formed in 2011, Asio's Eyes have been writing and releasing music for 3 years to an ever-growing fanbase in the North of England. Entwining celestial guitar lines, ethereal three part harmonies with grooving bass and off kilter rhythms with organic emotional delivery. Murky, jazzy, trippy psych-indie doesn't come more soulful or more evocatively than Asio's Eyes.
