***CANCELLED*** THE GRAMOPHONE JASS BAND
About this Event
MelloMello presents...
The Gramophone Jass Band are a 5 piece New Orleans style jazz band from Edinburgh, playing their own interpretation of traditional songs from the 1920s, alongside original material.
The band – originally TJ Muller and the Dixie Six – arose from a jam night at Edinburgh University's student union in 2010, but with the replacement of front-man TJ Muller with Ollie Marge in early 2013, the Gramophone Jass Band was born.
This summer was spent playing a number of festivals around Scotland, including Wickerman, Kelburn Garden Party, Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, Shetland Blues Festival and a very successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe with the Gramophone Jass Band's Late Night Speakeasy.
Next, the band set their sights further afield and purchased a 17 seater minibus, converted this to motor home and proceeded to tour around the UK and Europe until the end of the year (with keys, voice/guitar, trombone, sax/clarinet and bass). So far, the band have visited France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands, playing music in bars, clubs, restaurants, on the street, and even in a circus big top in Paris.
