Since 2011 'Extracurricular' has aimed to showcase a varied and coherent spectrum of music, with previous guests; George FitzGerald, Boddika, Paul Woolford, xxxy, The Heatwave, Kahn, A1 Bassline, Hackman, Cropper, Randomer, Tessela, Moxie, Romare, Visionist, Lee Coombs, Kostas G, Jon Rust, Alexander Nut, Pedestrian, Batu_music, Zyklon Sound + so many other fantastic Dj/Producers. We've kept the ethos 'Extracurricular: No Genre in Particular" with promoters; turf (formally 'Be Ready'), Free Range + Fresh out the box at the helm of this weekly hub at Oxfords best underground music venue - The Cellar [Oxford]]].



This is a celebration of how much we aim to diversify each event, putting together a killer Hip Hop infused line up with perhaps our biggest booking to date!



We're incredibly excited to welcome down Onra for a special event where he will perform a live show + Dj Set. Also joined by our good friends 'Monster Playground' who's label 92 Points, have a weekly show on NTS Radio. As if this wasn't special enough, we've invited down Oxford music veteran 'Dj Fu' for a killer slot to round off the party!



Some background on - Onra



Onra (Arnaud Bernard) was born in 1981 in Germany to French parents, although his father has Vietnamese ancestry. He moved to France at the age of three and shortly after, lived between France and Côte d’Ivoire, where his mother was based for over twenty years.



In 2006, he went to Vietnam for the first time, and brought back over 30 Chinese and Vietnamese records from the 60′s and 70′s. He made a collection of 32 tracks with this unique material and named it, 'Chinoiseries', an album that blends Hip-Hop and Vietnamese Pop Music influences. Followed up in 2011 with “Chinoiseries Pt.2″ on All City Records. In 2008, he was selected to attend the Red Bull Music Academy In 2010, Onra released his latest LP Long Distance on All City Records. It features tracks with Oliver DaySoul, fellow French beatmaker Walter Mecca, and T3 from Slum Village, soul singer Reggie B and keyboard player Buddy Sativa.

A staple in the Oxford music scene for many years now, Dj Fu along with Dave Charris has been responsible for some of the most heavyweight parties Oxford has ever seen, well know as 'Free Range'. While gaining international praise for his incredible turntablism, Dj Fu's talent has led him to perform with legends such as Beardyman, Jungle Drummer and many others to audiences of thousands. We're really excited to hear what he's got in store for us on this special occasion.

These two have many attributes under their belt, some of which include a weekly show on staple alternative radio station NTS Radio' as well as co-running ' 92 Points' a London based record label alongside Foundational. We're very excited to welcome them down for a two hour show, their record collection speaks volumes into the musical appreciation they share with wide audiences on a regular basis. From Funk to Hip Hop to Jazz and off kilter beats, it's all relative on the journey they create through their eclectic sets. You can catch them every second Sunday at 'Upstairs at the Ritzy' in Brixton where they host their free all-vinyl day event called Crates which has gained considerable recognition since it's conception just over a year ago.
