LAST SUMMER’S READING FESTIVAL MAIN STAGE ACT, PULLED APART BY HORSES TO HEADLINE ARE YOU LISTENING? 2015!
“One of the country’s most exciting bands” Q Magazine
“Surely the greatest live band in Britain” The Observer
Are You Listening? Festival returns for its third year on Saturday 18th April, following the overwhelming success of the first two years’ events, which saw over 2,500 festival-goers raise over £16,000 for local learning disability charity Reading Mencap.
Headlining the festival this year, and a huge coup for the organizers, is last summer’s Reading Festival main stage act, Pulled Apart by Horses. Tom Hudson, lead singer for the group said, "We're really looking forward to playing Are You Listening? Festival because it give us the chance to return to Reading where we have enjoyed playing the town’s other festival but with this one we get the chance to help and support the awesome Reading Mencap charity!”
BACKGROUND
The proceeds of the festival support Reading Mencap, a small local charity that provides information, support and respite services for children and adults with learning difficulties, disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders, and their families. They are affiliated to the UK’s leading learning disability charity, Royal Mencap, but receive no financial support from them. The festival also supports the local music scene from the grass roots level upwards. It is a policy of the festival to ensure at least 70% of the artist bookings are from Reading and the Berkshire area. Each year, around 50 volunteers provide crucial support to the festival, and the organizers would love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved this year!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to help run the festival on the day, with great benefits on offer including a free festival ticket, T-shirt, meal and drinks!
Please email volunteers@readingmencap.org.uk if you would like to support the festival this year.
Local bands can apply to play by emailing communityrelations@readingmencap.org.uk or areyoulistening@bwmusic.co.uk,
