From the USA...SOULIVE’s co-founder, writer and legendary drummer Alan Evans presents his newest creation, Alan Evans Trio. The Alan Evans Trio sound is hard-driving and groovy with deep, funky melodies and powerful, rhythmic counter-play, with Beau Sasser on Hammond organ and Danny Mayer on guitar. The group is held tightly together by the drum-master himself who also provides soulful vocals on several songs.
Mention the name Alan Evans to a room full of music lovers, and you will get a consensus nod at one of the most celebrated and tenacious drummers in the jazz, funk, and soul scene. Alan toured the world with Soulive, and has shared the stage with legends including Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Dave Matthews, John Scofield, and the list goes on!
The Alan Evans Trio evokes electrified, smoky, 70s-era funk/soul/rock. The band are renowned for electrifying live performances and they are on tour across the US, Japan and Europe in support of their two successful album releases ‘Merkaba’ and ‘Drop Hop
“a smoky, groovy blast of spacey funk. The funky vibe will take you back in time to a dark, hazy, velvet-adorned lounge of a swank club circa the ‘70s, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the Soulive drummer’s repertoire.” Relix magazine
“ chock-full of heady licks, determined drumbeats, and organ Alan Evans Trio has given us some much-needed reasons to be excited about the future of music” Grateful Web
