WBF presents ECHO LAKE + VIOLETIC
About this Event
We Broke Free are very proud to present:
Echo Lake + Violetic live at Sixty Million Postcards
- ECHO LAKE -
Following the release of their splendid debut album and the sudden death of drummer Peter Hayes in 2012, London-based band Echo Lake have returned with Era, a dense and mature bouquet of lush, layered guitar pop. Weighing in at 45 minutes, Era warrants alert, repeat listening—its seven swirling tracks flower upon each spin with new sonic findings that make it an album best heard through a good pair of headphones. Still, if spun on a turntable, Era’s waves of serene shoegaze will submerge listeners. “Waves” is the album’s most pop-forward tune, featuring Linda Jarvis’ honeyed voice gliding from ear to ear in harmony with itself over glistening keys and swirling guitars, but there’s a similar nod to the pop side of shoegaze that’s permeating the album, making it one of this year’s most enjoyable listens.

- VIOLETIC -
Formed of Mitch, Rory and Christina, Violetic’s music etches dark landscapes, melancholic chords and sharp, delicate melodies. Anxious bass lines amplified by bloodied and sensuous drums have led them to be compared to acts like Editors, 2:54 and Daughter, while a shamanistic ambience and ability to communicate devastating sentiment make them a cerebral and hypnotizing live act.
Based in West London, Violetic released their debut EP 'Ethanol' in December 2014. Since then, they have been a rare unsigned band added to the CMU “Approved” list, have supported Marriages at Hoxton Square Bar for their first ever UK date, and were considered one of the “15 Acts to Catch” for this years Alternative Escape Festival in Brighton. Recently, Violetic have released their first music video which was premiered by the O2’s Brooklyn Bowl London, where they later played alongside Youth Club, as well as being featured on Tom Robinson's BBC Introducing Mixtape on Radio 6.
