Lean On Me: 5th Anniversary Vigil for Michael Causer

02/08/2013

About this Event

On the evening of Friday 2nd August 2013 the Michael Causer Foundation is holding a vigil of remembrance to mark the fifth anniversary of Michael's death.

The theme is ‘Friendship’, to highlight the importance of friends and allies in tackling prejudice and hate crime.

The vigil will be accompanied by music from Liverpool LGBT Choir.

We aim to place Michael’s death within the broader context of hate crime, forming alliances and partnerships with others who have experienced identity based discrimination.

We are united not only by the violent nature of the crime suffered by all the families but also by the fact that all these victims were young people. The main focus of our anti-hate crime message is on young people.

What unites us is far more important and significant than what might seem to divide us.

We will gather in Temple Street, off Victoria Street, Liverpool and within the officially designated LGBT area called the Stanley Street Quarter. It is a quiet public open space.

The event will begin at 6.00pm and last no more than one hour.
