House duo, 99 Souls, have seemingly come from nowhere and bounced onto the scene. They’re also bounced onto our radiowaves with the support of none other than Pete Tong. Pete liked their track ‘The Girl is Mine’ so much that he premièred it and tweeted ‘MASSIVE will play again in FULL’.



The track in question is a genius remix using samples from ‘The Boy Is Mine’ by Brandy & Monica as well as from Destiny’s Child ‘Girl’… hence the clever mashup title, ‘The Girl is Mine’. Clever use of language is also the reason for their artist name; ‘we were born in the 99% they say’. Luckily for 99 Souls their talents run deeper than smart word play. .



Comprising a ‘jazz kid’ and a ‘hip hop baby’, the pair admit that they like ‘every kind of genre under the sun’ and want to bring different genres as well as artists old and new to the dancefloor once again in their music. They have already done just that with sterling success. Not bad for a debut record.



After months of waiting a proper release and after signing with part of Sony Music Entertainment, 'The Girl Is Mine' is out this week, and has already stormed into the midweek UK Singles Chart!
