About this Event

We Broke Free bring you:

Bad Sounds

70s inspired, Lo-Fi duo Bad Sounds have been causing a stir since debut single ‘I Feel’ dropped back in October. Their new track ‘Avalanche’, premiering exclusively on NOTION, is a catchy, Blur-inspired number infused with fuzzy guitars and bouncing keyboards. With a chorus guaranteed to end up stuck floating around your head and staccato verses, ‘Avalanche’ is a kind of psychedelia-light track, fusing pop hooks and hallucinatory guitar lines to cheerful, if unsettling effect.

Starting sweet before morphing into swelling, reverb soaked chaos, the song tells a series of short stories, most dealing with death or tragedy, hence its title ‘Avalanche’. Narrated with similar irreverence to electro band Hot Chip, the stories are told second hand, often only hinting at the events themselves with lyrics such as ‘Jo staying in with dad and watched something about a time some people got themselves caught in the avalanche.’ Notion Magazine

AND

Damn Beats

"With a name like Damn Beats, you might expect a bass heavy beat explosion of electronic music, but this British band will surprise you with their sun drenched indie sound." IheartMoosiq Aug 2015

Made up of two parts female and one part male Damn Beats fuse indie riffs with blues licks.

Having recently finished a run of shows supporting acts such as The Weeks and Apache Relay, Fickle Friends, Jaws and Youth Club DAMN BEATS have honed their craft selling out venues and delivering an exhilarating live performance. Their music is best described as eclectic and showcases impressive guitar work twinned with a regimentally pumping rhythm section culminating in an exciting amalgamation of genres. Influences range from Stevie Ray Vauhgan and Hendrix to The Smiths, REM and Duran Duran.
