The Sherlocks @ The Waterfront Studio
About this Event
The Sherlocks, one of the most talked about unsigned bands in Britain.
The up and coming indie four-piece from Sheffield come to The Live Rooms, a week before the release of their hotly-tipped single, Heart of Gold, which is already gaining national momentum on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music.
Lead singer-song writer Kiaran Crook, his brother and drummer Brandon, guitarist Josh Davidson and his brother and bassist Andy are on a seemingly never-ending tour of Britain and things are really taking off for the lads.
"We can't believe how much has happened this year," frontman Kiaran told The Bristol Post.
"The response to Heart of Gold has been amazing and the crowds are getting bigger and bigger at gigs and festivals.
"Our fans are really something else."
The hardworking band are right to be quietly optimistic. Heart of Gold is a tremendous tune that from the electrifying first chord shows the young band at their most confident best. The two sets of brothers also have a huge set of other fantastic songs ready to wow the UK with. Songs like Chasing Shadows, Escapade, Live for the Moment and a brilliant new song Blue are all signature Sherlocks anthems.
Kiaran, Brandon, Josh and Andy have some influential supporters too. Last week the head of music at Radio 1, George Ergatoudis, tweeted about their latest single "This band have got it. Love this track."
Heart of Gold was premiered on daytime Radio 1 the next day when it was played by popular weekend breakfast host Dev who was sitting in for Greg James on the drive time show. Dev told his audience that anyone who was a fan of fellow Sheffield stars Artic Monkeys would enjoy it and that he thought the track was "really, really good." Fellow DJs Huw Stephens, Annie Mac and Phil Taggart were the first to champion the tune on the station's evening shows.
Last week the band joined legendary DJ Steve Lemacq to broadcast a landmark session and interview at Maida Vale on BBC Radio 6 Music, which can be seen on the BBC Introducing website.
In the summer they played to thousands at Reading and Leeds and made two appearances at Isle of Wight Festival.
