Champion Jockey Oisin Murphy Returns at Chelmsford City
About this Event
After 14 months out of the saddle, Oisin Murphy will make his return to race-riding on Thursday and we are delighted to welcome him back to Chelmsford City for his first comeback ride.
The three-time champion jockey has been booked to ride Jupiter Express for the successful syndicate of The Horse Watchers, with the four-year-old declared for the Winning Connections Networking Handicap over six furlongs. Trained by Michael Appleby, Jupiter Express was third over course and distance at our meeting on 3 January and won on his next start at Wolverhampton.
Oisin Murphy was out of action for all of 2022 following his ban for alcohol and Covid breaches. This came on the back of him being crowned champion for the third time in 2021, when he rode 182 winners. In his best season ever he notched 220 winners in 2019.
He has a very good strike-rate at Chelmsford City, having previously ridden 89 winners here, making our track his fourth-most successful venue in Britain.
