ACTS OF THE NIGHT

GULLY////// 10:55PM

Gully’s uniquely artful blend of trip hop, jazz funk and wonky electronica pricked the ears of BBC Introducing, playing his single ‘Rain’ in January and further interviewing him on the 18th of February, which can be found online. Mixing 80’s grooves with, a full three-piece brass section and a imitable lyricism. Like Tom Misch and King Krule re-imagining J Dilla and the Beach Boys. This is not lost when transferred to the 7 piece. Gully is at home on stage, and the ease of which the live show is performed enthrals audiences both old and new.

ISI DEE////// 10:25PM

Isi is an old soul. Taking influence from genres including Jazz, Blues & Pop, music is clearly in her bones. She may be barely in her 20s, but do not be fooled, having gigged across the UK this songstress showcases her talent for writing alongside her crowd silencing pipes. She's a Northern lass with jazz in her bones, and enough soul to fill an ocean.

TEMPLATES////// 9:55PM

Meet Templates, a 21 year old musician whose songs gracefully blend between jazz, pop and soul. Through her raw experiences, the young singer-songwriter uses her mesmerising lyrics and chordal embroidery to charm you into joining her in her reminiscent mind.

The talented multi-instrumentalist, who grew up with a primarily classical music background, found her love for jazz and all it’s absurd and wondrous ways thanks to an inspirational tutor in her late teens. The fusion of these two quintessential genres combined with her pop/soul melodies has created a refreshing sound with delicate echoes of timeless queens such as Joni Mitchell and Sade.

Her recent debut release 'Earthquake' has already drawn in hundreds of listeners and has started to create tremors in Bath. Give it a listen below and follow Templates for all things new and exciting:

LUNA RAE////// 9:40PM

Updating pop and R&B sounds from the '90s, Bath-based duo Luna Rae are working towards the release of their debut single ‘Running for You’ in late spring. Beth and Myra met during Fresher’s week at Bath Spa Uni whilst both studying for a degree in commercial music. The two admit to being polar opposites with very different backgrounds - Beth was born and raised in rural North Wales, whilst Myra was born into a show biz family in Kenya – but both ended up with very similar tastes in music, citing Kehlani, Zayn, Jack Garratt and MNEK as influences.

During their studies at university, they played in a band before deciding to focus on writing and performing together under the moniker Luna Rae. Beth and Myra had only been writing and singing together for 18 months when they got picked by Capital FM as their ‘Future Breakers’ in 2016. This saw them headline Capital’s new music stage at The Summertime Ball and meet a lot of their idols. Previous to this the girls had been making a name for themselves after posting a number of covers on their Facebook page including a haunting version of Adele's 'When We Were Young' as well as playing a number of intimate shows in and around Bath.

Luna Rae’s first official release, ‘Running for You’, mixed by Lewis Gardiner (Prides) and mastered by Antony Ryan (Oh Wonder), will be released late spring of 2017.
