A Pint of Science - Technology In Science

16/05/2017

About this Event

Pint of Science is a non-profit organisation that brings some of the most brilliant scientists to your local pub to discuss their latest research and findings with you. You don't need any prior knowledge, and this is your chance to meet the people responsible for the future of science (and have a pint with them). The festival runs over a few days in May every year, but we occasionally run events during other months.

An evening where researchers discuss some interesting work on how they bring investigate interesting topics in technology. Ranging from video games to 3D scanning and using laser devices to look at blood micro-circulation.

It’s only pixels: Video game content, morality and the players.

Sarah Hodge (PhD Candidate in Psychology)

Video games have attracted much media controversy such as the Grand Theft Auto series which content includes; nudity, prostitution, guns, drug dealing and driving recklessly. Psychologists have investigated the role of positive and negative effects of playing video games; but what does this mean for video game players? I am currently a psychology PhD student at Bournemouth University. My research is focused on the psychological effects of playing video games; specifically I am interested in how we use morality in video games.
