R.E.D DJ /MC Competition gets under way at Riviera .



This Multi-Genre competition has had a lot of response and the 1 st round will be run over a series of weeks to cater for everyone wanting the chance to shine in what ever music genre they so choose .

****************** HOW YOU ARE SCORED*********************



A panel of judges consisting of Artist, Clubber and Event/Club Management will be dotted around the arena scoring you on these key catagories below



*Appearance :

(performing drunk n eyes like dinner plates staggering isnt the best look) This catagory can mean a lot of things for example body language and attitude towards others and the way you compose yourself during the event



*Originality & Tune selection:

Anyone can dj/mc the same old same old belters/bars being drenched over n over again, which in a few cases people may like .Try to stand out with your own style and unique sound ..



*Technical ability :

in my eyes a good dj is one that can rectify a glitch quickly and smoothly if ever happens through no fault of own and creating music within 2 3or even 4 seperate tracks , sounds loops or samples playing at the same time tightly creatively knowing there tunes selected inside out . But also playing off the cuff ( no prep just pick n play ) is another sign of someone confident and comfortable performing .



*Crowd interaction and reaction .

Lets face it , in my opinion the more energy and interaction you give the crowd the more energy they ll give you back ... nothing worse than a great dj / mc static in posture constantly eyes down on the mic , or down at cdj s / vinyl deck , mixer looking like he s just waiting for that last track to finish ...If you lack energy or interaction your dance floor will probably be same ..

Just my opinion .. , communication is a winner with both crowd and dj /mc as there s nothing better than that feeling of the crowd cheering during and after your set

*Support:

Yer I get it everyones busy in life doing there thing and have to get back or off to another gig or home for new borns and families .. BUT.......Always good to network before and after performing even if its 15 mins half hour before or after to show support to other artists , ravers and the scene . We all here for the same reason in the first place .......

****************HOW IT WORKS*****************



All entries to arrive at 9pm to check in



you will be told prior to the night your date of performance



In each heat for round 1 will be 5 Dj's and 5 Mc's (subject to genre).



Each act will be paired with an mc ( only drum n bass & hardcore )



A Draw with be made at 9:30pm to who plays 1 st and after every act the draw will be done again to see who goes next and so on



You will have 30 minute sets



there will be 5 minutes in between each act for you to prepare



you will be called out a maximum of 3 times and if still no show you will be elliminated and next act will follow instead.

From the 5 Djs and 5 Mcs TWO DJS & TWO MCS will QUALIFY
