Dorey the Wise is a four-piece indie outfit from Hastings in East Sussex, UK who play a mix of original pop/post-punk songs with a sprinkling of more acoustic tunes. Originally playing as a duo, Aidan Tigwell (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and Chris Georghiou (lead guitar, vocals) were joined in 2011 by bassist Mason



Holmes and drummer Elliot Lampitt and started to build a repertoire of songs that are full of dynamism, scope and energy.

The band’s hard-working attitude and a tireless approach to gigging allowed them to develop an accomplished and energetic live set that has helped them build a loyal fan base in their home town and further afield. In 2012 Dorey the Wise came second out of 10,000 entrants to the Surface Festival, an international contest promoting original music and musicians.



Later in the year, the band went into the studio to record a self-titled EP of four tracks, which was released in March 2013. The opening number, Backbone, was picked up by BBC Introducing and was played before the programme’s panel of industry experts, both of whom described it as “spot-on”, praising the rough-and-ready production and energy of the performance.



A new single, Give It All Away, was released in July 2013, its debut marked with a live radio session for BBC Introducing: The South. Receiving very positive reviews, Give It All Away was picked up for Tom Robinson’s Mixtape show on BBC 6 Music, a regular slot featuring the best new artists and Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 show.
