THE DEAD LAY WAITING

Formed in 2007, The Dead Lay Waiting are a youthful 5-piece metal band. After playing furiously through the U.K, the band landed a slot at the Bloodstock Festival in 2008. Following this, the band signed to Rising Records (Trigger The Bloodshed, Bleed From Within & Mendeed) where they recorded their debut album 'We Rise' in January 2009. When it was released, the average age of the band was 16. The album received a 3K's from Kerrang and 7/10 from Metal Hammer. While preparing for the first album, they were lucky enough to play with bands such as Opeth, Architects & Skindred at the highly acclaimed HammerFest '09.

During 2010, the band toured relentlessly with bands such as Trigger The Bloodshed, Bleed From Within & Sarah Jezebel Deva (ex Cradle Of Filth), as well as performing at the world renowned Download Festival.

After gaining vast amounts of tour experience, the band embarked on their 2nd album entitled ‘Almost Heaven’ which was released on 13th June 2011 to coincide with their 2nd appearance at Download Festival as a main support act. The album features 60 minutes of pulsating music that was well received in the music press world wide. The album also marked the return of Barry Clayton, the voice behind the now well-known introduction to Iron Maiden’s 'Number Of the Beast'. 'The Days I'm Gone', was the bands first video release for Almost Heaven and crept its way up to No.6 in the Scuzz T.V 'Most Played' chart.

Following the bands success, The Dead Lay Waiting were nominated for the prestigious award ceremonies in the following two categories:

Kerrang: Best British Newcomer Band and Metal Hammer: Best Underground Band.

The boys also had the tremendous experience leading up to the Metal Hammer Awards Ceremony by jumping aboard the Metal Hammer Boat (Aka 'HMS Hammer') to open up the stage for the amazing bands Black Spider, Tesseract & Biohazard which travelled up the River Thames to the awards ceremony that were held at the o2 Arena.
