Agit Disco: a benefit shindig for Housmans Bookshop

10/04/2014

About this Event

Housmans, London’s oldest radical bookshop (est.1945), is putting on a fundraising knees-up with a radical twist. Occupying both floors of local eco-venue Surya, ‘Agit Disco’ will see 16 artists, authors and activists spinning the best political tunes ever recorded. From protest classics to underground anthems, the genre-spanning playlists are sure to get the blood pumping and feet stomping.

The event is inspired by the Agit Disco book (Mute Books, 2011), a project which gathered artists, authors and activists to select their favourite political records. Many of those who featured in the book will be DJing in person on the night.

The impressive line-up of 16 selectors includes Sian Addicott, Martin Dixon, John Eden, Marc Garrett, Nik Górecki, Caroline Heron, Stewart Home, Paul Jamrozy, Micheline Mason, Tracey Moberly, Luca Paci, Simon Poulter, Howard Slater, Andy T, Neil Transpontine, and Tom Vague.

All money raised on the night will be going to support the long-running, not-for-profit radical bookshop, Housmans. Established in 1945, Housmans is London’s oldest radical bookshop, and continues against all the odds to make available the best radical books and magazines, which other bookshops fear to touch!
