Musician's Union: Making it and Moving on from your local scene

20/05/2014

About this Event

Musician's Union

Want to move away from gigs that offer no real exposure? Want to know how to build a solid fan base locally and then identify when the time is right to start to tour?

Join the MU and ‘Fair Play’ venue, the Boileroom in Guildford, for an exciting event looking at the art of developing a local fan base, and what to do when it’s time to look at building a national, or even international audience.

Dom Frazer, director of the Boileroom will talk about how to get involved with your local venues. She will tell us what it takes to support big name visiting artists or to become a headline act yourself, and take you through the backstage goings-on at an acclaimed small venue.

Later on, Officer for the MU, Emily Stewart will take you through identifying when the time is right to look at moving on from your local scene. How you can use your local fan base to launch your career at national and international level and give you tips to make the most out of your musical career.

Refreshments will be provided.

The event is £10 for non MU members on the door. Free to MU members.
