Mallory Knox w Lonely The Brave
About this Event
Mallory Knox exclusive Reading/ Leeds Festival warm-up show! Catch the rising Cambridge alternative rockers on a small stage before they head to the festival.
Named after the Natural Born Killers character, they have toured with Finch, Don Broco and Never Means Maybe. Having held the top spot on the iTunes Rock chart and 'Signals' entering the album chart in 2013, the band is set to soar in 2014.
Support comes from Lonely The Brave:
Lonely The Brave hit the ground running in 2013. Having been a genuine phenomenon in Cambridge, but little known elsewhere before that point, the band didn't want to deliver anything other than the finished article when they entered further consciousness. They knew the value of being ready and so after a well received demo (so strong that Dan P Carter gave them a live session on Radio 1 as a result of hearing it) sold out locally, they holed themselves away immediately to work on perfecting a debut album, "The Day's War", and introducing a fifth member, Joel Mason, to the fray on second guitar.
This finished record began to reach influential ears, leading to an immediate wave of interest, and signing with rock tastemakers' Hassle Records. Here they joined a diverse roster that included Cancer Bats, Alkaline Trio, Juliette Lewis & The Licks and Fall Out Boy. Their debut single with the label, "Black Saucers", received Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record In The World Ever" and Radio 1 support was abundant - with the initial response to the single so strong that the band were added to the Introducing playlist and received daytime support from Fearne Cotton, Greg James and more.
Writing anthemic, epic songs devoid of scene or outside influence from their peers, the band saw press attention span across genre, sex and age groups, with the likes of Classic Rock, Kerrang!, The Telegraph, Marie Claire, Huffington Post, Rock Sound, NME, The Fly and DIY all climbing on board to sing the band's praises. Resolutely level-headed throughout it all, the band also played Download Festival, supported Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling, were broadcast on BBC3 as part of Reading and Leeds' BBC Introducing stages and toured with the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Deftones and, at the end of the year, Don Broco. Lonely The Brave also released their follow up EP, "Backroads" to further acclaim including a full 5 K's from Kerrang! and Zane Lowe inviting them back to Maida Vale, this time to session for his show.
This year has started with the band playing European shows in France and Holland, follows with the band's first headline tour and then sees a series of dates alongside seminal alt-rockers Therapy?. With The Great Escape, further festival dates and "The Day's War" release looking set for release just ahead of summer, 2014 will continue the ascent for a band that Rock Sound say they "wholeheartedly believe could become the biggest band on the planet".
Lonely The Brave don't want to be, and shouldn't be considered, just another British rock band - if they continue the trajectory they're currently on, they have everything they need to soon be many people's favourite.
